Girls Season Officially Starts Monday, October 26th Boys Season Officially Starts Monday, November 9th
ATTENDANCE STANDARD: TRAINING SESSIONS ARE ABSOLUTELY MANDATORY UNLESS EXPRESSIVELY STATED AS OPTIONAL OR PRIOR APPROVAL IS GRANTED BY THE HEAD COACH OR DESIGNEE. VARSITY SWIMMERS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND ONE WEEKDAY MORNING PRACTICE PER WEEK TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR VARSITY AWARDS.
Notice of Closed Training Sessions: All Pike High School Swimming and Diving training sessions are closed to the public. Parents may not observe training sessions without advanced permission from the Head Coach.
Eligibility Non-Negotiables for All Participants
Before any student athlete begins the 2026-27 season, all participants in tryouts for swimming and diving must have the following items completed.
a completed, signed IHSAA physical (dated after April 1st, 2026) uploaded to Final Forms and approved by the Athletic Training staff. Coaching staff and Pike Athletic Department will not accept paper copies.
A parent/guardian has signed off on all athletic forms on Final Forms and approved by the Athletic Training staff, including the Custom Forms.
The student athlete has signed off on all athletic forms on Final Forms and approved by the Athletic Training staff.
In addition, the Head Coach will review all participants Q1 grades and attendance as part of the tryout process. Students must be registered and passing at least 5 classes, carrying a GPA higher than 2.0. Excessive absenteeism and not meeting the Pike Athletic Department/IHSAA academic requirements may result in a participant being removed from the team during tryouts. This will be done on a case by case basis.
Tryout Week Expectations
Safety Requirement for All Participants: It is required that all participants have a basic knowledge and skill level of swimming to participate in swimming or diving at Pike High School. Basic skill level includes the ability to safely participate in deep water without the use of the bottom or sides of the pool. The Head Coach/Aquatic Director has final determination in whether a participant has meet this requirement successfully. Failure to meet this standard will result in a participant removed from the team roster.
The first week of the season is designated as the tryout period for potential participants. Attendance is required on a daily basis to complete all of the tryout tasks, including skills testing, necessary for inclusion to the 2026-27 Swim/Dive roster. No participant will be named to the official roster until this is completed. If there are any issues with attendance this week, please discuss with Coach Grace immediately.
The coaching staff will review the performances throughout the week, in addition to attendance, school attendance, academics, in the final determination of roster assignments or cuts, if necessary. In the event of cuts, the participant and Head Coach will have a private conversation on performance and next steps to aid in preparation for future consideration of participation.
Roster Assignment
At the conclusion of tryout week, participants who completed all necessary requirements for the team will be placed in one of three groups to start the season. Group assignments will be reevaluated throughout the season and will remain fluid, based on the evaluation of the coaching staff. Head Coach will have final say in roster assignments. These groups will be classified as follows:
Varsity Swimmer
Junior Varsity Swimmer
Diving
Note: Coaches may ask participants who are placed into the Junior Varsity roster to consider transitioning to Diving to assist in filling the Varsity roster. This will be a case by case basis, with conversations lead by the Head Coach and Diving Coach, if necessary.
Odds and Ends
Player Pack Order Link BSN Sports
Parents will be responsible for completing this order with BSN, ordering the long sleeve team shirt and shorts (athlete’s choice of short) as soon as possible. Once your order is completed, BSN will produce the items ordered immediately and have it shipped to your home in about 10 days. Order now, as the team shirt is required attire for picture day on 11/17.
Team Suits
All participants are required to have a Pike branded Speedo competition suit for the regular season. Participants in need of a new competition suit, including new members, will need to order suits directly with the Coaching Staff. We have suits available for trying on to aid in selection. BOYS: you need to come see coaches by November 3rd so we can order your suits for the first meet!!!

Wednesday, October 28th: SAFE HALLOWEEN @ PIKE HS - 5-7pm
Swim & Dive will have a table handing out candy at Safe Halloween. Athletes will sign up with Coaches on Monday to participate.
Tuesday, November 3rd: NO SCHOOL/ELECTION DAY
Training will take place with normal expectations of attendance.
DATE CHANGE: Monday, November 9th: MANDATORY PARENT/ATHLETE MEETING
6:30pm in the Pike HS Cafeteria
Representatives from the Pike Athletic Department, including our ADs, Athletic Training Staff, and Mental Performance Coach, will speak in addition to the Head Coach.
Tuesday, November 17th: TEAM PICTURE DAY AFTER SCHOOL
OFFICIAL TEAM PHOTO ATTIRE: Team Shirt and Dark Bottoms (No Sweatpants)
Senior Banner Photos will be taken on this date.
Friday, November 20th: RED/WHITE INTRASQUAD MEET
4:30pm Start Time for the meet. Parents strongly encouraged to attend!
At the conclusion of the meet, our Parent Representatives will meet with parents to discuss the parent support provided for the season.
