Purpose of the Group: Develop & Challenge
The Academy is the place to get your feet wet in competitive swimming. Our program is setup with 3 ten week seasons throughout the year to allow the most flexibility for families who are invovled with other activites without the commitment of a full year contract!!!
Fall Season: September 14th-November 20th
Winter Season: January 11th-March 19th
Summer Season: May 10th-July 16th
Target Age Group: 6-14 years old
Academy White: Generally, any first season athletes will be placed into the Academy White group to aid in the transition from swimming lessons to the competitive team.
Academy Red: Athletes who are starting their 2nd season with the organization and/or can complete the training group advancement sets and display consistent training attendance.
Seasonal Membership Fee: All Pike Township Swim Club members must complete the Team Membership page before registering for the Academy session of choice. Seasonal membership will be $40 per season, payable at registration. This fee will cover administration costs to the club and a team cap.
USA Swimming Registration Fee: All PTSC members must be registered with USA Swimming for the 2027 swimming year. If you are a returning member, your account will be charged this fee in December 2026. New members will compete the link sent by Coach Grace upon registering for the team! Cost is TBD by USA Swimming and available after Sept 1.
Academy Training Fees: $160 includes training fees for each session. This fee is due at registration! Pike offers a scholarship program to assist with these fees; for more information, please contact our Board President at pikeswimclubindy@gmail.com.
Minimum Skills to Enter Group: Swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards of Freestyle and Backstroke. A working knowledge of Breaststroke and Butterfly kicking is recommended, but not a requirement for entrance as these skills will be taught.
Training Emphasis: 70% Technique Work/30% Training & Conditioning. Training will emphasize competing in the 50 stroke, 200 Freestyle, and the 100 Individual Medley events. Goal of training is to improve technique in each stroke, starts, turns, finishes, and introduce training concepts necessary for success in Juniors and beyond.
Training Availability & Attendance:
Academy White: There are 2 x 60 minute practices available each week.
Academy Red: There are 3 x 80 minute practices available each week.
Pike Township Swim Club does not hold an official attendance policy. The more your athete is able to attend, the more opportunities they will have to improve in the water!
Meet Attendance: Academy swimmers have the opportunity to compete in the Circle City Swim League events throughout their season, minimum two events. These fast paced, short course events allow swimmers to further develop their racecraft, with no additional charges to the families! In addition, all academy swimmers are eligible to swim at HOME Pike Swim Club events (additional fees will apply for entry into these events) during their season!
